A reflection while reflecting
A major inspiration for my work is the improbable wealth of images in nature. While walking, I capture it, in all seasons. Both close to my home in Naarden Vesting and further away. With reflections in the water as a characteristic theme: in detail or zoomed out and sometimes with the image upside down. A reflection while contemplating.

The beauty of focus
I am fascinated by abstract subjects and stillness. Paying attention to everyday objects that fall away in the hectic pace of everyday life, but which, when you light them from the bigger picture, take on a value of their own in detail.

Balance between time, aperture and patience
I have been photographing since I got my hands on my father's iconic Leica M2 as a boy. With that - and from him - I learned the basics of photography: the balance between time and aperture. And patience, because I knew the moment of printing was a one-off and had to wait several days for the result.

The photographing lawyer & the lawyering photographer
Since that first encounter, photography has played an increasingly important role in my life. Without losing sight of my profession as a lawyer, as attention to detail is essential there too. And where as a lawyer I follow the footsteps of eight generations before me, photography also fits into a family tradition. But on the artistic front. Several family members preceded me as sculptor, painter, glazier and musician.
